New York has an estimated 230,000 more single women than men, Atlanta a little over 80,000, Philadelphia about 70,000, and D. Paul, Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City, Austin, and Portland, Oregon.
Once again, the places with the highest ratios are smaller metros: Hanford-Corcoran, California, with 1,859 single men per 1,000 single women; Jacksonville, North Carolina, with 1,777; The Villages, Florida, with 1,724; Watertown-Fort Drum, New York, with 1,445; and Michigan City-La Porte, Indiana, with 1,438.
But the truth is, the most realistic picture is achieved by charting singles across a series of age ranges. Younger single men outnumber younger single women across the board.
The survey found that the worst to be single are Vermont, Washington, New Jersey and Massachusetts, so if you live in one of those states now and aren’t having much luck finding a significant other, you now know why.“It’s striking to see that massively dense cities across the United States have a lower percentage of singles,” said Joey Hadfield, spokesperson for Badoo.
“Contrary to popular belief, these metropolitan areas aren’t necessarily an optimal place for dating success.
This also means our older reviews have a head start in generating hits compared to newer reviews.
