Update 2015-10-31: My original theory that the problem was with Apple's updating mechanism was incorrect.Apple have responded to my security report that Quick Time 7.7.8 is only available for Windows Vista and 7.But the only way to protect your Windows systems from potential attacks against these or other vulnerabilities in Apple Quick Time now is to uninstall it.
This configuration is done with the Quick Time pane of the System Preferences application.
Open the System Preferences application and click the Quick Time icon to open the Quick Time pane.
Quick Time is included on Mac systems and is available for Windows.
